On Friday afternoon, Mackenzie Martel was announced student of the month for September by the Bowie principal, Mr. Kane, at the courtyard.

            Mackenzie maintains a 4.0 GPA.

“I make straight A’s,” said Martel. “At the beginning of high school, I was caught off guard because it was so intense, but I soon learned the effort I needed to put in to make good grades.”

Mackenzie wants to attend Rice University.

“My motivation to make good grades is I hope to attend a good school on a full scholarship,” said Martel.

In addition to her schoolwork, she also swims on the Bowie Varsity swim team.

“I’ve been swimming since I was 5, I love it, and it’s a great stress reliever,” said Mackenzie.

Martel received this award as a freshman, and now as a sophomore. She has received this award for the second time now.

“I haven’t received any negative comments from receiving this for the second time,” said Mackenzie. “I don’t have many friends, because I focus on my school work.”

Mackenzie takes 4 AP classes, Calculus, English, Biology, and US History.

“My classes are hard, but I still work very hard in them because I know the grades will pay off,” said Martel. “Things at home are tough so I need to make good grades in order to receive a full scholarship.”

Mackenzie is part of numerous extra curricular activities at school.

“I am part of Chess club, Yearbook, and Science Olympiad,” said Martel. “I love participating in different clubs and meeting different people.”

Mackenzie hopes for others to receive this amazing award.

“Tips I have for other students are to study and work hard.”

The Big day

There is a man in a car racing to get to a place. he keeps running into things that slow him down. there is a women at a church in a wedding dress with other women around her in dresses. she looks down at her ring then out the window in a gaze. the man finally reaches his destination and runs into the church, as the women is standing at the alter with her future husband.

John is racing to Jenna as she prepares for her wedding day at the Chapel on Friday because he wants to stop her wedding by barging in on the ceremony.

"Cmon, Cmon, move"... John said to himself lightly as he drove furiously through the winding rode in the middle of nowhere. "You look beautiful Jenna" said her friends as they finished touching her up and getting her dress ready. " Thank you" said Jenna as she smiled and looked afar. John starts to sweat as he races to Jenna through the misty woods. Jenna looks down at her ring ten out at the window searching for something.

Baltimore Photo

If i were a photographer in Baltimore, i would be very scared and fear for my life. But as a photographer i would think of it as an amazing opportunity to capture history in a photo. This event is very tragic but its a part of history in the US and we need to capture it.

Nut Graf

A Nut Graf is the point in a story where you "Nutshell" it up. Its the point where you tell people why it is important in the first place to be reading about it. For example you can talk about the party all you want but the nut paragraph will tell you why it was important and why you went in the first place. It is what gives your story fuel and rive for the reader to keep reading.

The paragraph is the "So what" section. It allows the readers to just get to the point of the story and stop worrying bout the details also they can have a underlining tone in the writing. It what the readers want to hear. Readers dont want that many details because they dont have a lot of patience. They just want the point of the story which is what the Nut Graf is.

1. Javier Senosiain 2. 2006 3. Mexico City 4. Private 5. $218,000 6. a young couple wanted it. 7. I picked it because because its so pretty and odd. its not normal for people to live in a shell but a real couple does and thats really cool. this building is very colorful and that draws so much attraction. i love the shape, design, and color. i just love it.

1. Piet Blom 2. 1974 and 1977. 3. Helmond and Rotterdam Netherlands. 4. Its a building you can visit but people actually live there. 5. 300,000 euro and above. 6. The houses are diagonal and cubed so it makes people stop and really take a moment to just look at them.

1. Feliciano Guimarães 2. 1966 3. Fafe Mountains in Portugal. 4. Its a private building but someone lives there. 5. i have no idea how much it costs. there isn't much info on it. 6. This history of the building is that two rock boulders are close to each other and so they built a house between them. 7. I chose this photo because its so weird and doesn't make any sense why someone would live in a rock.

1. André Waterkeyn 2. 1958 3. Belgium 4. You can visit this building. its not private. 5 There isn't a cost on it. it was built as a tourist attraction. 6. the history behind it, is that they built it for the people and you can go inside and party.

Sensory Overload

1. I think its a very deep statement that requires a deep analysis from a smart person. It takes a certain kind of brain to think about things in that way. I think its interesting and makes me look at things in a different way. I defiantly agree with this quote. This makes me feel more adept to my photography and helps me better shoot things to better understand what image i am capturing.
2. When i looked through i defiantly wanted to take pictures because its just a place that needs to be captured on camera. Its magnificent and so colorful.
3. I think it would be awesome and i would want to go to go to work with them everyday. life would probably be petty great because we would be rich and i would be happy with toys.
4. My favorite photo is by far the one with a a bunch of dolls hung up all over the room. there are colorful bears everywhere and the room is ink and yellow and blue with bears all colors.

Front Pages of the World

. My favorite newspaper front page was the Los Angeles Times from Los Angeles, Cali., because the layout was very intriguing to me. It made me want to read it and it looked interesting.
. My favorite headline was "Night To Soar For Birdman", because the Oscars have always been a big topic in the US and hearing about the movie that won best picture draws an audience. Also the headline is bold, attractive, and catchy.
. Two stories are on the front page of the spread.
. The headlines on all the Newspapers are bigger than the rest of the text. The main story always has the biggest pictures. the minor stories have smaller pictures. There is usually a story on the front page that is smaller than the rest and doesn't have a picture.  The name of the newspaper is at the top of the spread and is the biggest font and has a different font from the rest of the spread.
. Where the headlines are placed vary from spread to spread. The colors chosen to be used on the spread vary greatly in spreads. The fonts vary. The amount of pictures used vary from spread to spread.

Magazine cover Peer Review

I looked at a magazine called Vidorra by Emily Lawson. I like the complexity in the background of the picture, and I liked the simplicity of the font. I think making the background clear instead of blurry would look cooler. I picked this cover, because the uniqueness stood out to me. the creator put something so personal in the background, her art, something that represents her. I think that creates a special feel to the cover. Yes, there is a bar code. Yes, the bar code made the cover more magazine like. It was a self portrait, because the creator took it of them self in a mirror.

Peer Review Prompt Shoot

http://jacquelynphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com/

My favorite photo was the connected photo because it was very creative. I would have never thought to use a chains for connected. Also the photo is really clear and looks mysterious.
My least favorite image is the one used for the prompt "8", because i think a better subject could have been used. I like the edit of black an white that was used but i think more creativity could have been done that just holding up 8 fingers.
I really like your photos overall, because they are clear and to the point. the lighting used makes the photos look more complex and i like that. I also love your photos, because of the overall creativity. the foot print in mud without the foot leaves behind questions about what foot it was.
Overall,i think they could improve on better sighting, all the photos are so simple that i think some complexity could be good.
From my opinion, the best prompt portrayed was the connected photo. because the inks between the objects are so relevant.
The least portrayed to me was the pose prompt, because not much was really showed to me other than a person standing.

5 websites - Time Lapse

The key to a good time lapse is patience. You need to fine a place that is interesting and set the camera at a good place, that will capture a good image and that will change over time. Also make sure each set up has a  lot of things in it, so when the audience is looking around they have a lot to look at. Another note is to keep the image up for a long time so people can look around for a while. Another note is to set up the camera at a place where the lighting will change. where the sun goes up or down, where people turn lights off or on.

5 websites. 6 types of Photos

One type of photo type that a photographer should know about is forced perspective. you can have a lot of fun with making it look like people are taller than they are or things are smaller than they really are.  i like this photo the most because its funny and creative to make it look like a girl is hanging on a cup that is bigger than her.

5 websites Style 101

The number one rule in style is to be original. Its not style if you aren't being creative. I picked this as my favorite photo from the style website, because it really represents the originality in her choice of clothing. you dont see people with hair like hers or blue eye shadow on the street everyday. style is stepping out of the norm and being yourself.

5 websites Portraits 101

I picked this photo because its a very interesting clear photo. It makes the viewer wonder why there is a berry at the tippity top of this man's nose. There is some mystery behind the photo. a rule that is evident in the photo is simplicity. the background beind the man is just a grey blurry blank space. 0

5 websites Modeling Pose 101

This website was about how to model and giving tips about the different ways to become more natural with posing. It tells you what to do with every aspect of your body including hands and arms.
I learned to never get stuck in one pose too long and to always be moving. the rule is to never hold a pose for more than 3 seconds.

I picked this photo because it shows how important it is to make sure you know what you are doing with your face muscles. People don't think modeling is that hard but it actually requires a lot of specificity in your body movements from your feet to head.

best Song, Movie, Story, Person, Event of 2014

This was the best song of 2014 to me because its very catchy and almost addicting to listen to. the song is called "Don't" by Ed Sheeran and this is the last scene of the music video which is also a very good video. Its man dancing through life and its very powerful and angry and interesting. The song is just plain out good because he has a good voice and because the tune goes well with it.
This was my favorite movie of 2014 because it was plot twist after plot twist. i never knew what was happening and when i thought i did, it would just change on me. the actors are very powerful with their roles. they made me believe that they were actually evil. it was a great story and a great movie. i would recommend it to anyone. the only thing is that its gruesome.
The best story of 2014 was the Ebola outbreak. it was a scary interesting story that kept everyone on their feet and kept them clean and alert. it was on the news everyday for like a straight month and it was always in the back of everyone's head. When they finally cured it, it was such a relief across the nation and it felt so good to know that this was one thing everyone in the US could agree on.
This is the most important person to me of 2014 because he helps people for a living. For soldiers that suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after the army, dogs help them and this guy helps soldiers unite with dogs to be at peace again. he was the CNN Hero of 2014 and is very humble about the amount of work and success he has accomplished so far.
This is the most important sporting event of 204 because it was energetic, sad, powerful, emotional, intense, and amazing. the FIFA World Cup of 2014 was held in Brazil and Germany won 1-0 against Argentina. This event was on for everybody to watch and somewhere and everywhere everybody was watching.

3 Favorite Photos of 2014

This is one of my favorite photos because it real and raw and scary. when looking at this photo i feel scared and fear for the man about to be killed yet i know there is nothing i can do about it. A photo that makes you feel that raw emotion is always a good one.

This is another one of my favorite photos because it kind of holds this certain mystery behind it of what happened. I cant really tell if they are angry or mad or sad but all i know is that they are feeling strong emotions toward each other. I think they might have crashed and the guy is mad at the other racer.
Lastly this is one of my favorite photos, because its very unique. nobody sees someone running on the street everyday just barefoot but this person captured it in a photo for us all to see. It kind of just makes me feel joy when looking at the photo because its so funny and unusual.
